Genesis 21 - Gen. 6-9 Why Noah?

Noah was a righteous man for his time.  What does that mean?  God is probably showing us that in those days Noah stood out among all the evil men and women of his day.  That may not be saying much.  If you are pick pocket and live in a community where the other men and women are murderers and terrorists, one could say that as a thief you might be a more righteous person.  You are not a murderer, you do not violenting take anyone's life.  You just take their wallet or purse.  As compared to the others, you ain't so bad!! 

 

Is that what God might mean?  Let's go see in lesson 21.  Let's also see that Noah's name means comforter.  Jesus said, "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever." (Joh 14:16)  Another comforter.  This means that Jesus is the comforter.  He's leaving.  So the Father will send another comforter in His place.  

Huh?  Noah means comforter.  Jesus is a comforter.  Is there a connection between Noah and Jesus?  Seems possible since Jesus said that all scripture testifies of Himself in John 5:39.  Let's jump into the study.  Let's explore God's amazing instruction that is so relevant for today.
