Endtimeshofar: Bible Prophecy and The End-Times
Religion & Spirituality:Christianity
In this podcast, we will discuss how the Word of the Lord is connected to the Spirit of Prophecy. We will examine how the Word of the Lord came upon the prophets in the Old Testament, and also examine the Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic meaning for the word Word.
Hebrew is for Word is Dabar. Means speech, word, speaking, thing, saying, utterance.
In the Bible, logos is used to refer to the constant, written word of God, which we have recorded in the Bible.
Rhema is the lesser-known Greek word used in the Bible for word, and refers to the instant, personal speaking of God to us.
The word for “word” in Aramaic is memra. That means in the passages we
looked at a few paragraphs ago, instead of talking about the Logos of God or the“Word” of the Lord, we’d be talking about the “Memra of the Lord” coming to people. It just so happens that in the Targums—those Aramaic translations of the Old Testament the Jews of Jesus’ day were used to reading as their Bible—the Memra of God as a manifestation of God shows up in many places.
