Waiting On My Portion

Text: Lamentations 3:19-26
Thesis: “I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”
- Lamentations 3:24

1. 
   We are all keenly aware of our difficulties.
   “I remember my affliction… I well remember them, and my soul is downcast within me
   (Lamentations 3:19-20).”

“Hear us, our God, for we are despised…(Nehemiah 4:4)”

1. 
   God sees us in our times of trouble and need.
   “The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble

              (Psalm 9:9).”

1. 
   We have hope in the compassion of our Lord.
   “Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not
   consumed, for his compassions never fail (Lamentations 3:21-22).”
   A. When people have let us down, we can trust in the unfailing love of God.
               “Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled (Joshua 21:45).”
                 B. As God Comforts us, we can comfort others.
               “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion          and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort           those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God

              (1 Corinthians 1:3-4).”

III. We must learn to wait on the Lord.
“it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord (Lamentations 3:26).”
              A. The Lord doesn’t always work on our timeline.
            See Psalm 13.
            B. We may not live long enough to see the end results of God working           through our troubles.

37. 
    You can be proactive in waiting.
    See Psalm 37.
    Trust in the Lord and do good (Verse 3)
    Take Delight in the Lord (Verse 4)
    Be still before the Lord (Verse 7)
    Refrain from anger (Verse 8)
    Hope in the Lord (Verse 34)
    A. As we wait on our portion, in all things, confide and seek out The Lord.
                “The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him…     (Lamentations 3:25)
