This is a historic year for avalanches and the season isn’t even close to being over. On KRDO's "The Extra" Thursday, host Shannon Brinias and her guests discussed avalanche safety and realities, as well as gear and educational resources available in the region. Guest Elaine Smith, co-owner of Mountain Chalet spoke about the backcountry introduction and gear. Mt Chalet is the oldest backcountry outfitter in Colorado, having been in business around 52 years.
