Prepare for big musical numbers, beautiful cinematography and toxic relationships as this week we dive into a bombastic love letter to cinema. This film will have you questioning the very nature of relationships because if these two beautiful people can't make it work, who the hell can? There's tap dancing, a parkour guy, John Legend is in it for a bit - there's Jazz and J. Jonah Jameson turns up - really anything to distract from the thin plot. In much the same way that jazz music uses recurring themes and refrains as anchor points to ground the more experimental flights of fancy, developing and adapting the music before returning to the familiar, so too do the characters of Seb and Mia constantly return to one another before dramatically pulling away. Each time they return, they're recognisably the same but also changed and developed somehow - or they're just terrible, self involved people preventing one another from achieving their dreams - you decide!
