So you made it to the top, you are sitting at the proverbial table. You are the leader you always dreamt you would be. Yet, the feeling of imposter syndrome sneaks in. Then doubt sets in, you begin to second guess your decisions, you start comparing yourself to other people. You fear the consequences of when you believe the people around you will discover you are really not qualified to be at that position. Sound familiar? Of course feelings are not fact. That is why it is so important for us to talk about Imposter Syndrome and figure out how to swat it to the side when it does, and it will creep up on you.
Juliana and I spoke at great length about imposter syndrome and we also covered understanding your purpose and the role it plays in your life. As women with multiple interests how can you navigate all these areas you feel led to explore.
Juliana Bitarabeho @acapella_stimela is passionate about healthcare and her role at the East, Central and Southern Africa College of Physicians (ECSACOP) is centred around ensuring the strategic sustainability of the college. ECSACOP aims to improve access to well-trained physicians across the region by establishing a network of training centres and implementing an internationally recognised postgraduate medical qualification. The college will ultimately improve health outcomes for the region’s 200 million inhabitants, focusing on centres serving the rural population.
Through her volunteering work, Juliana is able to engage her passion for education and future leaders by working with students and change makers from around the globe. She currently sits on the United World Colleges (UWC) International Council as well as the Uganda National Selection Committee. Juliana is also a World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Shaper at the Kampala Hub. She also mentors, provides technical assistance and leadership to local youth groups.
