ALL CLASSES: Your most Amazing, Astonishing song. We Need it! And the Floyd Trial
Hi friends! Special Invitation! This Week!
What’s your most philosophical, smart song? Most smart, insightful, you feel its truth by its music? Our Evening Chats in Philosophy Need To Know! Extra credit 5 points. Send the song or link directly to skennedy@southtexascollege.edu , a link to our email (drlabasham77@gmail.com) and explain why you feel its power and depth. Do this! We'll put it online if it's not totally illegal. Tell them I sent you.
Yes, it can be one you create and perform.
Next, and in a different mood: On to the Floyd trial. Interesting duel to the death:
Here is an Audio excerpt from the George Floyd trial, which, as a legal guy, I’m following word by word. Four questions: (1) If you wish to consider and comment; since the Defense of the Police officer is going to argue GF was not killed by the neck restraint (knee on the neck), do you think the testimony by the prosecution witnesses is relevant to showing Floyd was actually killed by the neck restraint? There is some evidence he was not, some he was. (2) Can the Defense for the police officer succeed against such powerful emotions? (3) Would you have attacked the police or physically tried to stop them? Say why. So: (4) Does our system of Jury Trial represent an Ethical and Just method of deciding such things? Is there a better way? Sounds like good material for the final!
Best~
