Today we welcome, Dr. Jud Brewer to the podcast, who joins us to discuss his new book: “The Hunger Habit.” Dr. Jud is a New York Times best-selling author and thought leader in the field of habit change and the “science of self-mastery,” who blends over 20 years of experience with mindfulness training and a career in scientific research. He is passionate about understanding how our brains work, and how to use that knowledge to help people make deep, permanent change in their lives — with the goal of reducing suffering in the world at large.
His New Book, released on January 30th, is titled: The Hunger Habit: Why We Eat When We're Not Hungry and How to Stop. The Hunger Habit is based on his deeply researched plan proven to help us understand what is going on in our brains so that we can heal the guilt and frustration many individuals experience around eating. The step-by-step program focuses on training our brains to tap into awareness to change our relationship with food and eating—shifting it from fighting with ourselves to befriending our minds and bodies. There is no willpower, calorie-counting, or restricted eating. The key is to learn how to work with our brains rather than resisting our impulses, and to adopt an attitude of self-kindness rather than self-judgment. Grounded in cutting-edge neuroscience and Dr. Jud’s several decades of clinical practice as a psychiatrist, The Hunger Habit is both accessible and compassionate. It will finally help you break out of food jail and reclaim your life.
