Episode 2: Sixgills and Submersibles

Becky and Emily take a look at the stories and the science behind episode 2 of Blue Planet II. They discuss the wonders of marine snow and a whole load of weird things that lurk in the deep including a crab named after David Hasslehoff. They also find leaky subs, hungry sharks and a deep-sea coral that's older than you can imagine. They catch up with producer Orla Doherty about the epic odyssey of filming the deep. She recalls the test of patience that is needed and the emotion of sometimes returning with nothing. Orla describes what it is like to be in a submersible, miles beneath the surface of the sea and the sheer beauty of her discoveries.
