For this first episode of the Farmeress and Friends podcast, I talk with Leslie Treat who is an elementary teacher specializing in reading instruction. On the weekends, Leslie heads to the public library to tutor reluctant readers. We talk about parents teaching children at home in the age of coronavirus, popular book series for kids, reading milestones, common reading challenges, and Accelerated Reader. We also visit about her school’s bullying program and how it is empowering kids to help each other. Leslie has taught in both rural and urban settings, and we visit about how those experiences have differed for her. Thanks for listening to this introductory podcast!
