Part of the Code of the West is to “Ride For The Brand”. This means to be loyal to those that take you on and hire you. It’s not a blind loyalty, but one that is earned.
In his book Cowboy Ethics: What It Takes To Win At Life, James P. Owen writes:
“The cowboy’s greatest devotion was to his calling and his way of life. His loyalties naturally centered upon those who valued his traditions and counted upon him to uphold them. In short, the cowboy gave allegiance and respect where they were deserved and returned.”
What does it mean to ride for the brand in a corporate setting? When is it genuine and when is it not?
On this week’s episode of the 33 Tangents podcast, Jim and Jason take a look at what it really means to “Ride For The Brand”, how it is something that can’t be faked, and how it can show a person’s true intentions.
