The Circular Economy Show Podcast
Business
Resource flow analysis in cities relies mostly on quantitative methods which often overlook informal sector activities. However, informal actors provide vital services in African cities, and must be part of our future imaginaries of cities. The Covid-19 pandemic has exacerbated existing challenges for this sector such as access to food and limitations to transport and infrastructure. To achieve urban resilience, food-, water- and energy-security, and successful decision making, we need to include analysis methods that bring to light hidden resource flows in our cities.
In the final episode of the current series we are joined by experts from ICLEI Africa, Solophina Nekesa, Professional Officer with the Urban Systems team and Paul Currie, Manager of the Urban Systems Unit. We’ll explore how photography and storytelling can complement quantitative understanding of livelihoods, resources, and infrastructures in cities from across Africa.
