On episode 439 of The Nurse Keith Show nursing and healthcare career podcast, Keith interviews Dr. Jay Slosar, PhD, an author, educator, and clinical and forensic psychologist. In the course of their conversation, Keith and Dr. Slosar discuss how forensic psychology, social psychology, and other approaches can be leveraged in relation to suicide and deaths of despair, societal grief and trauma, psychosocial despair, "cumulative stress bombs", and even what Dr. Slosar refers to as "Capitalism Delusion Disorder" (CDD).

Jay Slosar, Ph.D. is an expert in clinical and forensic evaluations and psychotherapy. In private practice for 30 years as a licensed psychologist, Dr. Slosar has provided direct clinical and consulting services in a variety of diverse settings, including providing forensic evaluations from court referrals with a specialization in evaluating teenagers and young adults. He holds specialties in juvenile assessments and competency, high-conflict divorce, PTSD, perfectionism and law enforcement suicide, and developmental disabilities. Dr. Slosar also frequently serves as an expert witness and works as an adjunct university professor and California State Qualified Medical Examiner (QME).
Dr. Slosar has written and published professional materials and articles, including a staff training manual for residential treatment services. He has also presented a paper at the FBI Quantico training facility on perfectionism and its relationship to suicide in law enforcement personnel. He is the author of the book, The Culture of Excess: How America Lost Self Control and Why We Need to Redefine Success. From 1985 to 2019 he taught in both the psychology department and the health services department at Chapman University as an adjunct assistant associate professor.
