SHOW HIGHLIGHTS:
00 - No JLee today because she’s out on vacation (at least we think).
00 - Tim, KD, and JLee always volunteered to coach or lead their kids’ groups because they wanted the job done right. Any other fellow HR pros like that for their kids?
20 - First topic of the day: employee loyalty. Many employers feel that employee loyalty is dead but on the flip side, many employees feel that their employers are not loyal to them. Tim doesn’t think that people just showing up to a job is loyalty.
00 - Tim talks about one of his employees (shoutout to Lori) that has been at his company for as long as he can remember and shows extreme loyalty to him and the business.
00 - Something that Tim thinks shows employee loyalty and something he sees in Lori is her protectiveness over the company. She’s the first to point out someone’s bad behavior, but not in a narc way.
40 - KD thinks that a quality manager is essential for any employee loyalty to exist.
00 - KD asks Tim “does a loyal employee ever become a part of layoffs?”. Tim says absolutely not.
30 - Tim thinks that only about 10% of employees are truly loyal, but companies with great cultures can go up to 50% of employees that are loyal.
00 - KD says that if you can poach someone for little to no salary increase, that means they’re running from a burning ship.
30 - Tim’s TedTalk conclusion: the breakdown of employee loyalty rests out business environment and performance.
