The Dollar AND Difference Show
Business
Can social media be used as an effective way to help those in need and make the world a better place? This week we hear from a social entrepreneur who answers that questioning with a resounding “YES!”.
Ben Block is the founder of GozAround, a social network site centered around people helping people and the idea that “what GozAround, comes around.” The site allows individuals and volunteer organizations to post and respond to help requests and formal volunteer opportunities making it quicker and easier to get involved.
Before Ben founded GozAround in Alberta, Canada in 2014 he was an entrepreneur with his own web design business which he eventually sold before becoming a lawyer. Ben’s entrepreneurial spirit and desire to help others in his community led to his idea for GozAround. He leveraged his resources and skills to create a business that taps into what he calls the “social” or “shared economy”. Ben shares great insights into the unique story, structure, and strategy that goes into creating a new social network designed to grow community service and revenue.
