In episode 279 of The Physical Performance Show Brad Beer shares a conversation with Greg Bennett (OLY) 2002 & 2003 ITU World Cup Triathlon Series Champion on this Featured Performer episode.
Greg competed professionally across 28 years from the age of 18 to 44. In that time, Greg has amassed a sporting resume like very few triathletes in history. Greg is the highest placed male finisher in an Olympic Games event for Australia, finishing fourth at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. Greg started 82 ITU World Cup events, won six of those and was on the podium 23 times. Greg represented Australia at 13 World Championships at an elite level, three World Duathlon Championships with a silver medal in 2002 and two Goodwill Games. Greg won the world's richest ever triathlon prize purse in 2007 by clean sweeping five out of five for the Lifetime Fitness Grand Slam.
In 2003 and 2007 Greg was voted Triathlete of the Year by Triathlete Magazine. Greg has been voted as a Top 15 Greatest Triathlete of all time by Inside Triathlon Magazine in 2012. In 2002 and 2003 Greg was the ITU World Cup Series Overall Champion.
Greg touches on the power of absolute passion, why it's important to hone your craft through racing, along with the dark days of narrowly missing Sydney Olympic Games 2000 selection for the Australian Triathlon team.
Greg shares around why it is important to turn up and do the work every day, why something is better than nothing and as Greg states week in and week out on his very own podcast ‘the Greg Bennett Show’ why it is that success comes to those who endure for just a moment more. Greg issues a great physical challenge, top three tips for longevity and an incredible story about the hardest training session.
