Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo

In Series 3, Andy and Rob explore pieces of music which changed the course of music history. Episode 2 dives onto the very first Opera - Monteverdi's L'Orfeo. Written in 1607 for a court performance during the annual Carnival at Mantua; it is based on the Greek legend of Orpheus, his descent to Hades and his fruitless attempt to bring back his dead bride Eurydice. While listening to the exquisite music they eat Basque Cheesecakes. Perfect!
