The Dollar AND Difference Show
Business
This week's interview is unique because there is a BONUS Podcast with key take-away’s from my conversation with Haley Samuelson of Catchafire! There are two main areas I wanted to hit on from our conversation. The areas to focus on are intrapreneurship and 'answering-the-nag'. Both of these topics have surface more and more throughout the journey of my social venture and the stories of entrepreneurs I’ve been privileged to connect with and interview. The messages within each of these are too important to keep to myself, I hope you find the meanings helpful in your own social good journey!
Intrapreneurship:
-If you are working with a company and you create a new idea or project for them and you lead the project, you become a leader of a micro-movement within the larger company.
-Consider whether or not Intrapreneurship is the avenue for you. I believe there are people out there right now who have the skills and talents needed for this important area of social good, but think they ‘have’ to first become and entrepreneur and invent something completely new, but the answer is you don’t have to start there!
-You have to take the time to discover the things that fit within your path.
-Find your niche, whether it be within entrepreneurship or intrapreneurship.
Answering-the-Nag:
-At some level you’ve had the nag to create social change and make a difference in the world for a personal or public cause.
-Take the first step to stop the nagging so you can fulfill the needs of others with your skills by using them for social good, entrepreneurship, or intrapreneurship.
-Don’t be consumed by the nag anymore. Act on it. Don’t wake up years from now and realize you’ve ignored it.
-Acting on your nag. If you have the skill, talent, and the passion to serve a community or create some sort of social change in a certain area and you don’t do it, you are doing a disservice to all the people you could potentially help. (It’s the rough truth!)
I hope you found some of these key points useful in your journey of either entrepreneurship, intrapreneurship or even just beginning in the social-good space. Please connect with me if you have any questions or comments, I’d love to hear them!
