We’ve been here before. In some ways it feels like we’ve been here forever. A Republican president was impeached and acquitted, prominent members of the GOP are falling in line to support him, cultural fights feel political, political fights feel cultural, Conspiracy theories run rampant, and the press is predicting the untimely death of the Republican party. I’ve lived long enough to have heard that line twice before. It never quite pans out.
Here to talk about what’s happening is Rick Perlstein. Perlstein is a historian who focuses on the American conservative movement and a returning guest. His most recent book is Reaganland: America's Right Turn 1976-1980.
This includes a long conversation about Rush Limbaugh’s legacy, recorded on the day he died.
