In this week’s episode, I sit down and talk with Tinaye K Manyimo, who is the founder of Shumba Consulting, and a diversity and inclusion expert. We talked about how hard it is to actually implement diversity and inclusion initiatives and about why companies don’t actually implement them. They talk about diversity all the time, but don’t actually take action. My favorite part of this interview was when Tinaye actually gave me an epiphany moment, when he explained the limitations of internal diversity and inclusion roles.
Tinaye or T.K (he/him) is the owner of Shumba Consulting a small business of diversity based in Halifax Nova Scotia whose mission, with a core lens of diversity and inclusion, is to work with businesses, organizations and groups to develop and deliver engaging and impactful workplace education and management solutions. Originally from Zimbabwe, he moved to Canada where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Organizational Behavior and Industrial Relations as well as a Bachelor of Arts and Community Studies from Cape Breton University. He is currently a member of the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion as an Individual Practitioner and a Canadian Certified Inclusion Professional (CCIP).
