Sometimes we just miss our addiction. We know that the relationships we had and the behaviors we engaged in are unhealthy and they aren't serving us. However, they did serve a purpose in our life. They helped us escape and numb out from the chaos and unmanageability of our lives. Prompted by a conversation with a friend in recovery, I wanted to share one of the things I did to get past a particularly difficult relationship.
Homework: Identify one thing you need to get past in your life. Maybe it is a relationship and maybe it is a behavior. Start thinking about the positive and negative aspects of the relationship. Write a letter you'll never send to help you complete that emotional connection and move past it.
