This week Haddy has the pleasure of interviewing Aussie Olympic Marathoner Milly Clark.
We talk about Milly’s Road to Rio and her transformation from a promising junior gymnast to one of Australia’s best ever distance runners. Milly outline’s her early difficulties including a year hampered by stress fractures and how coach Philo Saunders helped her rebuild and restructure leading into a spectacular 2nd place at the 2019 Gold Coast Marathon.
Milly talks about the disappointment of multiple race cancellations during the pandemic and the elation of finally toeing the start line and coming home with the win and a PB (2:26) in last year’s Melbourne Marathon.
Milly has a wonderfully positive attitude to life and running and she speaks openly about the factors that make her such a champion. Milly is supported by Koda Nutrition and we go into detail about her hydration and nutrition strategies for race day and the importance knowing your numbers in terms of sweat rate, sodium concentration in sweat and calorie consumption.
Of course, we cover the big topics such as dominating the Olympic food hall, cartwheeling prowess and a fool-proof recipe for cheesy fries!
Enjoy!
