Welcome Back No-Problem Parents!
In today's discussion, we explore the unique challenges faced by the sandwich generation: those who find themselves parenting their aging parents while also raising their own children. Being caught between these responsibilities can be emotionally and mentally demanding. Join us as we delve into practical strategies for navigating the complexities of caring for aging parents while still prioritizing your own family's needs.
Meet my guests today Kim & Mike Barnes, who were award-winning newscasters in Austin, Texas. But after leaving TV they found themselves helping their aging parents more and more. Dealing with Alzheimer's, pacemakers, cancer surgery, and more as they navigate long-distance caregiving. They launched a Facebook group in April 2021 called Parenting Aging Parents in an effort to help others trying to help their parents. The group includes expert interviews, resources, and a community of support. Kim and Mike have a 26-year-old son who's a graduate of Texas A&M and a 23-year-old daughter who's a graduate of the University of Texas.
