The EU’s foreign policy chief says a “humanitarian pause” in the Israel-Hamas conflict, is needed in order to facilitate the arrival of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. Josep Borrell was speaking in Luxembourg following today’s meeting of EU foreign affairs ministers.
He said a humanitarian pause is a less ambitious objective than a ceasefire which would mean a full agreement between the warring parties. EU leaders are expected to discuss the calls for a humanitarian pause during an EU summit later this week.
