La conversation d'aujourd'hui est une rencontre avec la cheffe Ivoirienne Christelle Vougo qui était l'une des chefs vedettes du livre de l'OMT sur le voyages à travers la gastronomie Africaine. Elle explique à Franck Olivier Kra tout ce que la Côte d’Ivoire a à offrir en matière de gastronomie.
L'histoire du Chef Christelle Vougo débute aux USA ou elle était étudiante en comptabilité. Elle rachète à Atlanta en 2005, The Avenue, un restaurant dans lequel elle était serveuse puis Manager. C’est ainsi que commencera sa carrière de chef autodidacte à 26 ans.
Elle y proposera une cuisine américaine traditionnelle jusqu’en 2010. Elle rentre en Côte d’Ivoire en 2011 et ouvre Norima, un restaurant américain. Le restaurant connaît un succès remarquable. En 2012, fortement inspirée par la richesse des produits du terroir et par la diversité des plats ivoiriens, elle ouvre Saakan, son restaurant spécialisé dans la cuisine Africaine. Ses clients y découvrent les ingrédients et plats traditionnels sous un nouveau visage. Sa célèbre "Queue de bœuf braisée" est pratiquement sur toutes les langues.
Zanda traiteur sera créé en 2015, afin d’exporter son talent aux domiciles, et entreprises.
Elle ouvrira en 2016, MONDIAL son dernier restaurant qui offre aujourd'hui une expérience culinaire avec des formules gastronomiques multiculturelles à étapes. Christelle Vougo porte son succès au-delà des frontières Ivoiriennes et Africaines et cela se remarque dans les plus grands médias spécialisés de place telle que le Figaro, Jeune Afrique, BBC Afrique pour ne citer que ceux-là. Entre temps elle reçoit en 2017 le Prix d’Excellence de la Meilleure Jeune Cheffe d’Entreprise 2017 de Côte d’Ivoire.
