Society gives us very clear messages about what we’re supposed to look like, and when we don’t conform, we are left feeling ashamed, insecure, angry and frustrated. Kara Richardson Whitely works to raise awareness about the importance of embracing diverse body types. At more than three hundred pounds, Kara climbed Mount Kilimanjaro bringing her from the depth of self-doubt to the top of the world. Her difficult trek speaks to every woman who has struggled with negative self-image. Kara talks about her journey of intense passion, endurance, and self-acceptance. Kara is the founder and CEO of The Gorgeous Agency, an outdoor adventurer and influencer, and author of the book, Gorge: My Journey Up Kilimanjaro at 300 Pounds, which is soon to be a movie produced by and starring This Is Us actress, Chrissy Metz.
