This week one of my posts went viral.
In the post, I shared my frustration with women continuously being “cast/written” as damsels in distress who cannot handle their business without mini breakdowns along the way.
As exciting as it is for a post to garner so much attention, it speaks to a larger issue that so clearly resonates with many in today’s workplace.
Having diversity doesn’t equate to representation or inclusion and it certainly doesn’t always lead to belonging. It’s not enough to be invited to a dance where you hate the music 🎼. It’s time to change the DJ to one who is open to requests.
We still have a very long way to go in this area and the fact that DEI initiatives are receiving pushback and lackluster support is quite frankly frustrating.
But this is no time to throw up our hands. This is a time to 1) raise awareness, 2) understand the challenges in front of us, 3) call out hypocrisy and 4) elevate the business case.
That’s exactly what we are doing this week on The Coffee with Rhonda Show as we welcome Inclusive Cultures Expert, Simi Rayat. We’ll take a deeper look at inclusive cultures and why it benefits organizations to commit to creating Modern Magnetic Cultures where inclusion and belonging are strategic initiatives and wellbeing for leaders is a priority.
