Lynn Marie Morski is host of the Psychedelic Medicine Podcast, an invaluable resource for healthcare providers who want to learn about the potential of psychedelic substances in treating physical and psychological suffering.
Morski has already had a long, productive, and eclectic career, ranging from video production to medicine to law. None of these fields individually held her interest, especially her nine-year stint at the Veterans Administration.
At the VA, Morski saw patients suffering from conditions that mainstream medicine had no answers for: PTSD, traumatic brain injury, depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction.
And she was prohibited by law and custom from telling them about protocols that she knew could help. Protocols that were studied widely in the US and other developed countries until the 1960s, when they were banned for a bunch of really bad reasons.
Morski now educates physicians and other healthcare providers about clinical trials, new evidence, safety issues, patient experiences, legal considerations, and other factors in the prescription of psychedelics and traditional plant medicines. Through her podcast and her organization, the Psychedelic Medicine Association, she advocates for the safe, compassionate, and equitable use of psychedelics in easing human suffering and restoring health.
In our conversation, we talked about LSD, ayahuasca, ketamine, psilocybin, and cannabis. Morski shared published and ongoing research, and offered guarded optimism about the continued push toward legalization and mainstream acceptance of these powerful and unjustly maligned substances.
