Have you been noticing peculiar happenings around your home lately? Does your cat get spooked and stare off into the dark? Have your items gone missing only to pop back up in unusual places? Maybe you see something just there...out of the corner of your eye...can you see it?? Don't look directly or it will vanish in a flash! You may be experiencing the presence of a Brownie! Known by many names: Hobgoblins, Tomte, Nisse, Urisk, Domovoy; these beings are said to occupy the unused and in-between spaces in our homes and communities. Tales of these mostly benevolent creatures exist from cultures all over the world and in many cultures, they once were an integral part of daily life!
In this week's episode, join Brooke and Sarah for our first ever potential Brownie encounter. We're not saying all the weird crap that has been going on in and around The Red Room is because of the Fae Folk, but we're not NOT saying it. All we know is that after a little offering and some household tidying, it's been a lot less mischief and way more magic around these parts lately. Learn what these hardworking hearth dwellers like around the home, a little bit of history on the possible origin of Brownie folklore, and a clear list of what to AVOID if you want to stay on the good side of the Fae Folk. We have it on good authority (Betty the cat...I mean, she has authority but its actual goodness is up for debate) that our offering and brownie effigy have done the trick. But you know that we aren't going to be taking it down any time soon. Better safe than sorry, especially when it comes to an easily offended hobgoblin. Sweep those hearths, dust those shelves, and above all else, Goblins, you know what to do...
