The flower that smiles to-day,

今日微笑之花，

To-morrow dies;

明日便会凋零；

All that we wish to stay,

我们渴望留下的美好，

Tempts and then flies.

诱人片刻，终将飞逝。

What is this world's delight?

这世间的欢乐为何物？

Lightning that mocks the night,

仿佛闪电嘲弄黑夜，

Brief even as bright.

光芒万丈，转瞬即逝。

Virtue, how frail it is!

美德，何其脆弱！

Friendship, how rare!

友情，何其难得！

Love, how it trades pure bliss

爱情啊，竟将纯真的喜悦，

For proud despair!

换作傲慢的绝望！

But we, though soon they fall,

即使这一切终将消逝，

Survive their joy, and all

我们仍将走下去，带着它们给予的欢喜，

Which ours we call.

哪怕这一切，早已不再属于我们。
