Foster Wilson is an award-winning director, an alumna of the Ryan Murphy HALF Directing Initiative, and a board member of Moms-In-Film. Her short film Made Public played at more than 20 festivals including 5 Oscar-qualifying fests and won several awards including Best Film, Best Director, and the Audience Award at the prestigious Bentonville Film Festival.
Host Jenn Page and Foster talk everything short film festivals. Should you waste your money on them, how to get the most bang for your buck if you are attending them, how to make a festival worthy short film, and even how to distribute them. They also talk breaking into TV: diversity programs, shadowing TV directors (how to get the opportunities and what do do once on set as the shadowing director).

Foster is an award-winning director, filmmaker, and Emergence Award Recipient. She earned her BFA at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she studied for 3 years with the Atlantic Theater Company. After more than a decade working in the industry as an actor, Foster made the transition to directing. Her short film Made Public (MadePublic.com) starring Jeanine Mason and Josh Zuckerman, premiered in 2019 and has played at more than 20 festivals including 5 Oscar-qualifying fests. The film has won several awards, including Best Film, Best Director, and the Audience Award at the Bentonville Film Festival. Her previous short film, Waffles, screened at 25+ festivals around the world and garnered 8 nominations and 4 wins, including an Audience Award for Best Short Film.
Foster was one of six members selected by Alliance of Women Directors for the inaugural AWD Short Film Initiative, creating a short film in collaboration with the Shoot ‘Em Up film series. The resulting film, titled MÍA, premiered at Disney Studios in October 2018. Additional directing credits include: Maggie the Cat, Platypus, Brick & Mopsie, Love Scenes, LLC, and the short series Gross Anatomy. In development: 5 Stages of Grief and the feature Living Will.
