Conquer fear with ultrarunner and coach Kerry Sutton
This week’s guest is ultrarunner and coach Kerry Sutton. Kerry has a long history in endurance sports, having rowed at university before embarking on her ultrarunning journey with a gentle introduction…the Marathon des Sables.
She completed the MdS soon after having her fourth child – an impressive feat in itself as any parent will attest – but she progressed quickly and is now one to watch on any start line. She’s won multi day races and frequently places in the Top 3 of the UK’s biggest races and has completed races such as the Jungle Ultra, the Everest Trail Race, the Thames Path 100, the Lost Island Ultra and the UK Trail Running Champs, among many more.
In this conversation, we enjoy hearing about Kerry’s exploits and explore the role that fear plays in endurance events. Particularly pertinent was her recent epic at The Spine Race – a 276 mile non-stop ultra in winter along the length of the Pennine Way – where mountain rescue had to be called to extract her from a fairly sticky situation. Enjoy!
