How to Lift Yourself Up from Victimhood at Any Age - Angela Legh | Suicide Prevention Show 114
These days people talk about “‘hoods” and neighborhoods in ways we didn't talk about them when I was raising my kids. Back then, it was a beautiful day in the neighborhood. These days the discussions about “hoods” can be somewhat dark.
The “‘hood” that we're talking about today, is the neighborhood known as “victimhood”. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a guided tour OUT of Victimhood?
We’re blessed to have the best possible guide. Get ready to leave victimhood behind once and for all.
Angela Legh grew up with “an alcoholic father and an angelic mother.”
Her family home burned down when she was six and Angela was sent to foster care for a few months. Being “ripped out of my family,” Angela believed that she didn’t deserve love.
Marrying an older man; things were good for a while. But over time her husband began pulling her down with his words. His criticism couched in “helpful” terms, but the message remained, “I don’t deserve love.”
After more than 30 years, another fire pushed Angela out of home.
The Tubbs fire of 2017 destroyed her community and their family home.
Stripped of everything except the relationship, left Angela facing the stark reality. With nothing left to distract her from the harsh truth of the abusive nature of her marriage, Angela pulled together the remaining shreds of her self-esteem and began a path of self-healing.
It started with writing her story. Her intent was to help others find the strength to walk their own paths to self-acceptance, forgiveness, and healing.
The writing “woke up” something creative inside Angela. Angela’s current project is a series of children’s books to help them never need a “fire” to learn to love and accept themselves.
Angela Legh has a book for all children - a fairytale for the current age.
