The Suicide Prevention Movement
Health & Fitness:Mental Health
We're going to visit a little town. Actually, it's a huge metropolis, but it looks like a little ‘burb that you don't want to live in. The town is called "Shouldville."
Shouldville is a dark, dank place where lives get lived, and dreams go to die. Shouldville is where you go when you “should on” yourself. You might be living in Shouldville if you’ve ever heard yourself say (or think): “I shouldn't have said that.” “I should be further along in my career by now.” “I should be slimmer, faster, braver, wealthier, etc..”
The roads into Shouldville are many. The paths out of Shouldville are easy. Join me as we walk the paths out of Shouldville and into your personal power.
TEDx speaker, Radio Show Host, International Best-selling Author, Mindset Magician, Director and co-founder of the Teen Suicide Prevention Society, Jackie Simmons is best known for her mission to “Break the Silence on Suicide.” Blindsided by her 14-year-old daughter’s suicide attempt in 1995, Jackie entered a world of depression, addictions, medical mysteries, and deadly silences. The journey into the world of mental health services and cultural taboos left Jackie feeling lost and alone. “OK” on the outside, Jackie hid her deep, psychic wounds behind a façade of frantic entrepreneurial activity. Then on August 3, 2019, Jackie’s now 37-year-old daughter broke the silence. Jackie wasn’t ready. She calls August 3, 2019, the day her “purpose tapped her on the shoulder.” You can learn more ways to break the silence and stop teen suicide by watching: "Have 'The Talk' to Stop Teen Suicide" on the TEDx YouTube channel, at the Teen Suicide Prevention Society, and on The Suicide Prevention Show summit .
