Harper's first addiction was kratom and she successfully tapered off a year and half ago.  Clip from the Dopey podcast from Dr. Harrison warning that while kratom is clearly safer than opioids, it is addictive in itself, can produce difficult withdrawals and many patients have to receive medicated assisted treatment to quit.
