In this episode of Velocity Femme, we interview Cassidy Hinds, a full-time Dietitian college student and race car driver. The conversation revolves around the physical fitness and endurance of race car drivers, as well as the challenges and limitations of racing at different tracks. I discuss my observations of race car drivers on the grassroots level who are not physically fit and question how they can perform well in races. We also discuss the challenges of marketing and securing sponsorships in grassroots motorsports. We highlight the need for racers to be their own personal brand and handle their own PR and marketing and the lack of recognition and opportunities for grassroots racers due to the focus on larger organizations with more media coverage. I emphasize the importance of media training and access to resources for grassroots racers to improve their chances of securing sponsorships.
