Acts 18 - Not Of This World

The primary thrust of this message is geared towards to deception of the culture in the Church, specifically regarding, and revolving around, the almighty dollar, and man's pursuit of it! You see, the Bible says that those who follow Jesus should actually seek to look like Him, not the culture around them. That Christ should define who we should be, and not the culture we live in. And yet, it seems that for many today, the culture has more of an influence on their lives than what Christ does. For Jesus says things like, "sell your possessions and give to the needy", "you cannot serve God and money", and, "for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." A topic that shouldn't be a debate at all has now become a source of contention within many in the Church today. But what does the Bible actually teach about money? While this teaching is not a full, in-depth teaching on the topic of money, it has enough in it to drive the point home...we live for Jesus and the Kingdom of Heaven, not our own! As Hebrews 13:14 says, "for here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come". Or as Jesus Himself says, "My Kingdom is not of this world..."!
