Marie and Mike agree that Angelina Jolie's high cheekbones and even higher horns deserve awards recognition in the title role in "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil," a sequel to a 2014 film that breathed new life into the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale. Also making a powerful impression is Michelle Pfeiffer as a queen with whom Maleficent will do battle. Indeed, there is so much special effects-driven fighting that it's ironic that Princess Aurora (Elle Fanning) and other characters get lost amidst the exploding fairies. You'll enjoy hearing Marie and Mike rip into the creatively malnourished "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil." Our snarky critics had a much better time watching the new animated version of "The Addams Family," whose vocal talent includes Oscar Isaac as Gomez and Charlize Theron as Morticia. Marie and Mike think this latest reworking of "The Addams Family" is a worthwhile gateway film for introducing young kids to the happiest dysfunctional family.
