Aired 10:30am AEST 16.2.2021
News From The Drug War Front with Geoff Ward and Marion Watson.
Supported by: Canberra Alliance for Harm Minimisation and Advocacy and The Connection.
Recorded at: 2xx FM98.3 Community Radio.
-The major issue for discussion on the local scene is the proposal by Labor backbencher Michael Pettersson to amend the existing ACT Drugs of Dependence Act to change the way those caught with a personal supply are dealt with. They would be fined rather than incur a criminal conviction. The amounts considered "personal possession" would be limited by weight and include 0.5 grams of MDMA and 2 grams of cocaine, heroin, ice, and mushrooms.
- In international news we will discuss “What Happens When You Mix Antidepressants with Recreational Drugs?” by Kat Smith.
- We will discuss the piece “The Kind Man Who Used to Sell Me Heroin” by M L Lanzillotta.
- A fascinating piece about the dark web in Russia has been penned by Aleksey Lakhov; “Revealing Trends in Russia’s Dark-Web Drug Markets”.
- The radio show is co-presented with Marion Watson. Music is played during the show, which is broadcast on 2XX, Canberra’s Community Radio, 98.3 FM. It can be streamed live through 2XX or heard as audio on demand via the 2XX website. Go to Programs and find “News from the Drug War Front” and listen when you wish to. The show, without music, can be heard via the Podbean podcast app.
