Welcome to the sixteenth episode of ‘The IKKIVI Podcast Season 2’. In this episode, we have the pleasure of speaking to Sara Idacavage. She’s a doctoral candidate and instructor in the Department of Textiles, Merchandising, and Interiors at the University of Georgia. She is passionate about sustainability and mental health awareness, and her current research examines how fashion education can be enhanced by using sustainability to frame historical inquiry, placing unsustainable ideas, practices, and systems within broader historical contexts.
In this episode, we speak with her about bringing together history and sustainability through her research, the interesting connection between the two, and how history can make the fashion industry more sustainable. We also delve into the intention behind her work as a historian and educator, about facing eco-guilt and eco-anxiety in today’s time and how as individuals, we can constructively navigate through such complex feelings. We learned so much from this conversation about history, sustainability and more, and we look forward to you tuning into it!
