The liver is definitely the metabolic furnace of your body and manufactures many things and this includes essential proteins, such as albumin, and globulin proteins, such as sex hormone-binding globulins, immunoglobulins, fibronectins and C-reactive proteins. The liver also manufactures hormones, in particular one called insulin-like growth factor, also known as somatomedin. Also the hormones angiotensinogen, thrombopoietin and hepcidin. The liver also breaks down sex hormones regulates the thyroid hormone metabolism, controlling your weight.
