On episode 57 of The HR Famous Podcast, long-time HR leaders (and friends) Tim Sackett, Kris Dunn and Jessica Lee come together to discuss hiring for government clearance positions, Amazon monitoring employees (drivers this time around) and how the unemployment rate of 6% feels high based on what they are feeling from a recruiting perspective.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS:
4:00 - JLee says that she feels like a yuppie with her Peloton and her (soon to hers) electric vehicle.
5:00 - Everyone’s favorite cult, Amazon, is discussed in a new Business Insider article about their AI-equipped delivery vehicles. Delivery workers for Amazon are claiming this a privacy issue. JLee thinks there is no such thing as privacy in the world that we live in.
8:00 - KD thinks this is more of a jobs economy issue. It falls under the issue of job quality and automation of jobs.
12:00 - JLee thinks there’s a difference between surveillance and capturing data. She doesn’t think that the AI in the delivery trucks are surveillance and they’re using it more from a data perspective.
15:15 - KD thinks the more commodity driven a job is, the more you’re likely to be monitored.
18:45 - Tim asks JLee if Marriot is seeing a huge increase in hiring. She says not yet but they’re anticipating it coming in pretty soon. They’re expecting revenge travel to be a major thing.
22:45 - Tim says that certain industries still are struggling to find qualified candidates and the overall employment rate is elevated. He’s heard from enterprise leaders that recruiters are having a crazy amount of recs open.
26:00 - Tim says that Oracle and Workday launched big internal mobility tech and they found that employees are wanting to stay at the same company. Tim thinks leaders need to career path their employees or they’re going to get poached.
30:45 - KD thinks that recruiters need to be aware of where the marketplace is at and be able to communicate that effectively to execs.
31:45 - We had a business school lesson today on HR Famous!
