Blue-Collar Leadership & Supervision: Unleash Your Team's Potential (Part 11 of 30)
Managers of people (low impact leaders) communicate. However, high impact leaders of people move beyond communication and make a connection with their team members. When you're able to build trust with your team, you move beyond communication and begin to connect.
Throughout my career, I remember hearing people moan and groan about a "lack of communication." I also know these people didn't trust their leaders and most often didn't even like their leaders. When people won't share information or withhold critical information, it always creates distrust.
When you connect with your team, you're building relationships. When relationships are formed, people begin to follow you because they want to, not because they have to.
