The Chinese Herb Health & Longevity Show
Health & Fitness:Alternative Health
This is Dr. George and in our latest podcast, John and I delve deeper into the theory behind building optimally balanced formulas according to classical Chinese medicine. We start off with Jing formulas, the most important being Rehmannia 6. Rehmannia 6 is an incredibly important “Mother” formula based on which many other formulas have been created.
Which six ingredients make up this powerful formula and specifically what does each one do in the body? How much of each ingredient is represented in a standard dose? How can the base formula be modified to address things like excess heat or dryness? How would you know which formula variation is right for your specific situation…including geography?
In this podcast we answer all these questions, including even what time of day is best to take the different variations of Jing formulas in order to achieve their best effect, and understanding how to find a great kidney point on the body that you can press to help tonify kidney energy.
Rehmannia grows in parts of north and northeastern China, and is the main ingredient in the Rehmannia 6 formula. It has been used successfully in Chinese medicine for over 2,000 years, primarily to treat yin deficiency. In Asia, rehmannia has been used for many conditions including: allergies, high blood pressure, anemia, constipation, cancer, diabetes, fever, eczema, bacterial and fungal infections, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, insomnia, and pain relief.
