A sculpture of the late SDLP leader and former MEP John Hume will be unveiled in the European Parliament in Strasbourg later today.
The bronze bust was created by Dublin-based sculptor and painter Liz O’Kane who is from Northern Ireland. Taoiseach Micheál Martin is expected to join the President of the European Parliament in unveiling the bust later.
Fianna Fail MEP Barry Andrews says it is extremely significant that the Parliament decided to celebrate Mr Hume’s legacy by displaying the sculpture on its premises.
