Episode 57: The Enrichment Approach with Sebastian Stan, the WHO, Eugenics and the Disability Mindset
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. I started with my own joke about allies and eyes. Then I used a quote from actor Sebastian Stan. Next, I talked about the WHO definition of mental health and the disability mentality. I also talked about the history of ableism, eugenics and being feeble-minded.
In this week's RITE OF PASSAGE EXPERIENCES or ROPE, I talked about my crutches as tools to navigate the world. The disability mentality was not something that I had for myself. The disability mentality existed in other people's minds. I also got help from a teacher who had personal experience with a son with disabilities.
