Why impaired wellness may be inevitable in medicine?
In this episode, I feature a paper by Bynum and colleagues who warns us about the risks of rushing solutions without fully understanding the nature of impaired wellness in medicine. They propose a different way of thinking about wellness: one that views wellness as a healthy and authentic engagement with the inevitable adversity of pursuing a career in medicine. Therefore, rather than eliminating impaired wellness, we should view it as a catalyst for developing resilience.
