In this episode, I throw my "2 cents" in with regard to the currently very controversial idea of supplementing with BCAA's. Like many things currently on debate, there seems to be little nuance or room for the "gray area." I do my best to explain that in an ideal world where athletes consume A: enough Calories, and B: enough protein, the need for BCAA's would be relatively low, if necessary at all. However, in the real world, with real youth and endurance athletes like those I work with, consuming enough Calories and enough protein is very often a mountain too high to climb. This is where seeking something that "works" is better than missing the mark altogether. In other words, when you can't be perfect, don't let "good" be the enemy of "perfect." Just because YOU may not need to supplement with BCAA's, does not mean there is no value of benefit for someone else. What do you think?
