This program brings April to a close, and thank god. Bombast aired eleven times in that fateful month. All the while my brain was being addled by other things, some professional, some recreational, all of them amounting to very little. Here's to endings. At least we draw a line under it with a very good program, cueing issues (my Achilles' heel, I guess; you are what you are) notwithstanding.
I am beginning (?!) to think that maybe this means a bit too much to me. I would like to say that I was perfectly "fine" before I started doing this. But that wouldn't be true. Whether that is correlation or causation I don't know. So, as always, I "keep on pushing."
Normal people with voluntary programs at community radio stations don't have existential crises about their programs every couple months or so, right? I actually had a thought, a week or two ago, about cancelling the weekly program and "just" doing fill-in slots. Think about it--under such circumstances, I would have done six programs last month, one more than the number of Wednesdays therein. Not bad, eh? I was talked down from the ledge on this one. "You'd get angry," my co-program director said. "There'd be those months when no one gets sick or leaves town, and you'd be pissed." There is that.
On the other hand, I think about programs like this one in Poland (I think that's right, anyway) that only airs on the night of the full moon. How cool is that? I'm not that cool. It saddens me.
Don't even get me started on stuff that happens on the internet, or social media. John Walsh is correct; that stuff is just pathological. But if not for the web, how would anyone know about me?
