This episode is a part of my conversation with my cousin, Fred. We have approached the age that our grandparents passed of heart disease and diabetes. Luckily, our genetics only contribute about 10% to our developement of the lifestyle diseases that took our grandparents at such an early age. I became a physician largely because of witnessing the suffering those diseases caused to my family. So it is only fitting that as a physician I would like to help the rest of my family avoid those diseases and outcomes. It is easy to fall into the trap when surrounded by disease that you will ultimately develop those diseases as well. Fred is a motorcross athlete, business man, father, husband, and ordained minister. He spends a great deal of time helping others and is a role model for them. Listen to my version of our conversation about reversing diabetes and decreasing the risk of cardiovasular disease through a whole foods no added oil plant based diet. I hope this encourages him on his journey to health as well as families everywhere.
